The older WNB series WattNode® for LonWorks® meters did not support resetting of the energy register, and since the newer WNC meters with Option B and BI are designed to be drop-in replacements for the old WNB series models, they also do not support resetting the energy register.

There is one work around to reset the energy register. Because of the difficulties with this procedure, we normally don’t recommend it, but you can try the following:

  • Write 183 to nciCalSel
  • Write 444.7422 to nciCal
  • The procedure has the effect of a factory reset. The energy register is reset to zero and most of the configuration registers reset to their factory default values.
  • The CtAmps values are preserved. The WattNode meter’s state is now unconfigured (uncommissioned) so you will need to configure (commission) the meter again.
  • You may need to reload configuration values, such as nciPwrUpdtT if you have changed them from the defaults.

If possible, we recommend using our new WattNode Plus for LonWorks (WNC series) without Option B or BI, as this version has an nviResetEnergy network variable, which offers a convenient means to reset the energy to zero.
